الغريب الغامض

كان الشتاء في عام 1590.

It was winter in the year 1590.

كانت النمسا بعيدة عن بقية العالم.

Austria was far away from the rest of the world.

كانت البلاد نائمة وهادئة.

The country was sleeping and quiet.

كانت الحياة في النمسا لا تزال مثل العصور الوسطى.

Life in Austria was still like the Middle Ages.

بدا الأمر وكأنه سيبقى هكذا إلى الأبد.

It seemed like it would stay that way forever.

قال بعض الناس إن النمسا كانت متأخرة بمئات السنين عن الأماكن الأخرى.

Some people said Austria was hundreds of years behind other places.

قالوا إن الناس هناك لا يزالون يؤمنون بالأفكار والقصص القديمة.

They said people there still believed in old ideas and stories.
