Line by Line Learning

I'm Derrek Pearson — a designer and product builder with more than 20 years of experience. I founded Line by Line Learning in Amsterdam in January 2026, out of a love for traditional books and a lifelong struggle to learn new languages.

Line by Line (linebylinelearning.com) helps you learn a language by reading and listening to the books you love. I take classic books and adapt them to CEFR reading levels (A2, B1, B2) in a parallel-text format: every sentence in the language you're learning, then your own, with natural audio on every line and a private journal for writing practice. Read, listen, and write.

Line by Line currently supports these languages: Spanish, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Danish, Swedish, Romanian, Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Arabic, Serbian, and Hungarian.

You'll find graded reader books such as Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Around the World in Eighty Days, and Little Women that have been adapted to help you learn languages.
