About this book
On a summer evening in a holiday house on the Hebrides, Mrs. Ramsay tells her small son James that yes, perhaps, they might sail to the Lighthouse tomorrow, if the weather holds. Her husband and his young disciple insist it will not. And so the promise hangs there, unfulfilled, while the household goes on around it: children mocking the prickly Charles Tansley, Lily Briscoe at her easel, a great plateful of blue water opening toward that distant, austere tower across the bay.

“Yes, of course, if it’s nice tomorrow,” said Mrs. Ramsay.
„Ali moraćeš da ustaneš veoma rano“, dodala je.
“But you’ll have to get up very early,” she added.
Zbog ovih reči njen sin je osetio ogromnu radost.
These words made her son feel a huge joy.
Činilo mu se da je putovanje već sigurno.
It felt like the trip was already certain.
Godinama je sanjao o ovoj avanturi.
For years, he had dreamed of this adventure.
Sada, posle jedne noći i jednog dana plovidbe, činilo mu se da je dovoljno blizu da je dodirne.
Now, after one night and one day of sailing, it felt close enough to touch.
Džejms Remzi imao je samo šest godina.
