About this book

The Return of Tarzan opens aboard a transatlantic steamer, where a countess admires a stranger booked simply as "Monsieur Tarzan, of Africa." At the card table behind him, two men are planting marked cards to ruin a French count — and Tarzan, watching it all in a smoking-room mirror, steps forward to unravel the frame before the assembled passengers. It is a quiet, deft piece of surveillance, and it earns him a friend, an enemy, and a note that promises regret. The ape-man who once renounced his title and the woman he loves are about to be pulled back into the world.
