About this book
A golden bird steals a king's apples by night. A house in the forest is built of bread and roofed with cake, its windows clear sugar. A little man spins straw into glittering gold and asks, in return, for a firstborn child. These are the tales the Brothers Grimm gathered — German folk stories worn smooth by many mouths, where clever children and cursed princesses and talking animals meet witches, giants, and wolves, and where kindness tends to be rewarded and greed undone.
