About this book
After dinner in a Richmond drawing room, a scientist with pale grey eyes sets a small brass-and-ivory contraption on the table and sends it spinning until it dissolves into a breath of wind and a snuffed candle. "There are really four dimensions," he tells his skeptical guests, "three which we call the three planes of Space, and a fourth, Time." His argument is patient, almost teasing. What follows is not.
