About this book
At Bright River station, a shy farmer named Matthew Cuthbert arrives to collect an orphan boy who will help work the land at Green Gables. What waits for him instead is a talkative, red-haired girl. He hasn't the heart to send her back, so he brings her home and leaves it to his stern sister Marilla to sort out. And the whole quiet farm tilts on its axis.

La Signora Rachel Lynde viveva in una piccola valle dove scendeva la strada principale di Avonlea.
Mrs. Rachel Lynde lived in a small hollow where the main road of Avonlea went down.
Intorno a questa valle crescevano alberi e fiori chiamati «orecchini da signora».
Alder trees and ladies' eardrops grew all around this hollow.
Un ruscello la attraversava.
A brook ran through it.
Nasceva lontano, nei boschi della vecchia proprietà dei Cuthbert.
It began far away in the woods of the old Cuthbert place.
La gente diceva che nei boschi il ruscello era veloce, con pozze profonde e piccole cascate.
People said the brook was fast in the woods, with deep pools and waterfalls.
Poi arrivava alla Valle di Lynde.
Then it reached Lynde’s Hollow.
Lì diventava un piccolo ruscello calmo e tranquillo.
There it became a calm, quiet little stream.
