About this book
A small girl in too many layers of clothing climbs a mountain path with her aunt, and somewhere along the way she sheds the lot, catching up to the goats and the goatherd boy in nothing but her petticoat. This is Heidi, orphaned and about to be left with a grandfather the whole village fears — the gruff Alm-Uncle, who lives alone among three shaggy fir trees on a sunlit rock above the valley. He drives the aunt off with hard words. And then, against all expectation, he makes the child a bed of sweet-smelling hay and checks on her through a stormy night.

There, the path starts to climb steeply up into the Alps.
În acel loc, mirosul dulce al ierbii și plantelor de munte salută fiecare călător.
At that point, the sweet smell of the mountain grass and herbs greets every traveler.
Într-o dimineață frumoasă și însorită din iunie, o tânără înaltă și puternică de la munte urca pe poteca îngustă.

Ea ținea o fetiță de mână.
