About this book
On a snowy afternoon, a girl named Alice sits by the fire with her kittens and wonders aloud about the room she can see in the mirror over the mantel. Then the glass softens to a bright silvery mist, and she climbs through into it. On the other side the fire is real, the clock wears a grinning face, and the chessmen walk about on their own errands. This is Lewis Carroll's looking-glass world, where a whole country is laid out in squares like a great chessboard, and a girl who begins as a pawn sets out to become a queen.

Eén ding was zeker.
One thing was certain.
Het witte kitten had er niets mee te maken.
The white kitten had nothing to do with it.
Het was helemaal de schuld van het zwarte kitten.
It was all the black kitten’s fault.
De oude kat was al een kwartier bezig het gezicht van het witte kitten te wassen.
The old cat was washing the white kitten’s face for the last fifteen minutes.
Het witte kitten was heel geduldig.
It was very patient.
Het kitten maakte dus geen problemen.
So it did not cause any trouble.
Zo waste Dinah de gezichtjes van haar kittens.
This is how Dinah washed her kittens' faces.
