About this book
It begins on the night of a birth. David Copperfield comes into the world at Blunderstone as a fatherless child, and his formidable great-aunt Miss Betsey Trotwood arrives certain she is about to become godmother to a girl. Learning otherwise, she strikes the doctor with her bonnet and marches out into the night. From that opening, it unfolds as a life told in the first person, looked back on with a grown man's tenderness for the boy he was.

This story will show if I am the hero of my own life.
Or maybe someone else will be the hero.
Vi får se.
We will see.
I want to start my life story from the very beginning.
I was born on a Friday, at twelve o’clock at night.
This is what people told me, and I believe them.
Folk lade märke till något konstigt.
People noticed something strange.
